OUR KISS TRIGGERED A METAMORPHOSIS
Maggie Utley
our kiss triggered a metamorphosis
a pattern of life we stumbling found
back in the garden of love’s genesis
we did not know that we could live like this
intertwined together with hearts freely bound
our kiss triggered a metamorphosis
of leaving behind a pair of vacant chrysalis
that in the rainstorm had almost drowned
back in the garden of love’s genesis
rejoicing now like Sappho in a reconstructed acropolis
singing the lesbos lover’s ancient sound
our kiss triggered a metamorphosis
of what were once just two girls with minds amiss
that the universe has now in clematis crowned
back in the garden of love’s genesis
it’s a beginning we find and frequently reminisce
when the world tries to shake our wings unwound
our kiss triggered a metamorphosis
back in the garden of love’s genesis
